Weekly Prayer – Thursday
Guest Post: by Trista Pagel
On Thursdays I pray for extended family, including grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, and my husband’s parents and siblings. Some of my family are believers, some aren’t. I pray some similar requests and promises for family that I do for my friends, which we looked at yesterday. Some other promises you can pray over family include:
- feeling encouraged in the season of life that they’re in (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
- growing in their relationship with God and spreading the Gospel (2 Timothy 4:7)
- wisdom in dealing with family matters (James 1:5)
- that the Word would point them to the truth of who God is and sanctify them (2 Timothy 3:16)
- unity in their marriages (Ephesians 5)
- other specific requests, such as health, jobs, financial provisions…
Just to clarify, these are more general promises you can claim in the lives of your extended family consistently on a weekly basis. But always feel free to pray daily for more specific, pressing needs of your loved ones. When more immediate prayers come up for family and friends, you can make a new note card for them with the request and place it in the Daily Prayer section. Later to come we will talk about Prayers Answered.
