Weekly Prayer – Friday

Guest Post: by Trista Pagel

On Fridays pray for your occupation, whether that be a full-time student, employee, mother, or whatever. Pray that Christ would shine through you in your sphere of influence. Pray that your work ethic would glorify God. Pray that God would protect you in a secular work environment and that He will provide for your financial needs. Pray for doors to open and doors to close as far as future career paths go. Pray that your peers, co-workers, clients, employers, professors and children would come to know Christ as Savior.  Here are some specific verses or promises you can pray over your occupation:

  • work to please the Lord, not man (Colossians 3:22-25)
  • be content with the outcome of your work (Ecclesiastes 4:4-6)
  • enjoy the work God has given you (Ecclesiastes 5:18-20; Ecclesiastes 8:15)
  • God’s help during hard times (Psalm 46:1)
  • deal with conflict in a Biblical way (Ephesians 4:31-32)
  • Be an ambassador for Christ to the lost around you (2 Corinthians 5:20)

For more specific, urgent requests (such as a big test coming up, a job interview, major projects, crucial confrontations etc.) you can make a separate note card and put in the Daily Prayer section. Then be sure to write on the back of that card when and how God answered that prayer and put it in the Prayers Answered section, which we will get to in a few days!
