ESTHER 1:12; 2:17, 22
At first glance these verses appear to be nothing more than simple coincidences. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you can read them here:
But Queen Vashti refused to come at the king’s command delivered by the eunuchs. At this the king became enraged, and his anger burned within him.
the king loved Esther more than all the women, and she won grace and favor in his sight more than all the virgins, so that he set the royal crown on her head and made her queen instead of Vashti
became angry and sought to lay hands on king Ahasuerus. And this came to the knowledge of Mordecai, and he told it to Queen Esther.
One woman removed as queen. Another unlikely woman crowned. Mordecai saves the king’s life.
Of course, these aren’t random chance situations at all. God is working amidst it all. He uses Queen Vashti’s refusal to comply with the king to raise up Esther to a place of influence. As queen, Mordecai has someone to alert concerning an assassination attempt on the king.
It’s all interwoven and worked out by God. He’s at work in the significant and mundane. The comfortable and the heartache. The easy and the difficult. Let’s push forward in faith, hope, and love today knowing God is sovereign and will make good on his promises!
