EPHESIANS 4:23
But that is not the way you learned Christ!— assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
Ephesians 4:20-24
My goal has been to post a thought or verse from my time alone with God each day. I do this for my own benefit and to encourage and inspire anyone who may come across this to prioritize God’s Word into their own lives. This one is getting out a little late so bear with me.
I was struck in these verses, as Paul is talking about how the believer is to live as an adopted son of God, the role the mind plays here.
It’s interesting he gives two clear commands to 1) Put off the old self and 2) to put on the new self. But in between these there is a command “to be renewed in the spirit of the mind”.
The mind is so important in our walk with the Lord. If we are going to pursue holiness our minds have to be set on pure things, on holy things.
If we were to take an inventory of the things that our minds dwell on what would the verdict be? Wholesome? Self-centered? Critical? Lustful?
Ultimately, I want my mind soaked by God’s Word. To dwell on it and ponder it and delight in it. This daily tawg blog is one way I hope to achieve that.
