ESTHER 5:2
And when the king saw Queen Esther standing in the court, she won favor in his sight, and he held out to Esther the golden scepter that was in his hand.
Esther’s life was literally hanging in the balance. She comes to the king without his summons but on her own accord. But in this crucial moment she wins favor with the king.
Why? Because she was lucky? She caught the king at the right moment? She was rewarded by the universe for her bravery?
Or was she put there by God for such a time as this? Was God preparing to stop Haman’s evil plot of Jewish extermination with her insider influence?
Nothing can stop the plans and purposes of the Lord. He will accomplish what he wants. Not Haman. Not Nebuchadnezzar. Not Nero. Not Hitler. Nobody.
Search the scriptures to behold the promises of God. You won’t be disappointed. I love Jeremiah 1:12, “I am watching over my word to perform it.”
The promises of God are being fulfilled because he is making sure that they are. He isn’t guessing at what will happen. He is watching over his promises to see them to fruition. What confidence!
Praise God for the courage and bravery of Esther to trust in this faithful, sovereign God to act on her behalf. May we do the same in the midst of our changing culture, grounded in his promises as our foundation and rock.
