PSALM 112:7
For the righteous will never be moved; he will be remembered forever. He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD. His heart is steady; he will not be afraid
– Psalm 112:6-8
Bad news is inevitable. While we are looking at houses to buy, we receive bad news a lot. Whether a house is already taken. Or one we really like, we find out is out of our price range.
I love how this psalm characterizes the righteous as one not afraid of news like this because his heart is firm because it trusts in the LORD.
The opposite is an unsteady, wavering heart tossed around by all sorts of things. That isn’t the life and heart I want. The answer is to look to God in trust.
Father, help me to trust you in all of life, but especially when something is on the line I care about. When I find it hardest to trust and easiest to doubt. Let me find faith in you that leads to a firm, steady heart.
