JEREMIAH 48

I’ve been sharing a thought on a verse I read to 1) Motivate me to be in the Word each day and 2) try to come away with one thought or application

Well I don’t have one verse today, I have some thoughts on a few verse from one chapter. So here we go!

Vs 42 juamped off the page at me,

Moab shall be destroyed and be no longer a people,
because he magnified himself against the Lord.

Moab, or the king of Moab, has put himself up against YHWY and he prefers himself to God. This is further iterated in vs 29

We have heard of the pride of Moab—
he is very proud— of his loftiness, his pride, and his arrogance,  and the haughtiness of his heart.

God sees the heart of Moab. And he sees pride and arrogance. Self glorification and exaltation OVER God.

This is essentially what sin is, being unimpressed with God and being infatuated with ourselves and his stuff. We grow proud and don’t fear him although he holds our very breath in his hand.

God help me to see your greatness and glory and be blown away. Let me respond in worship for you and not in pride to worship myself. You are infinitely amazing. How foolish to see it otherwise.
